DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus – On Sunday April 23, a Tajik delegation led by Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov left for Germany to attend a three-four economic forum “Tajikistan-Germany” that opened in Berlin today.  

According to information from the president’s office, the forum is aiming to discuss bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.  

Tajik delegation attending the meeting consists of Hakim Soliyev, Minister of Economy and Trade, Saymumin Yatimov, First Deputy Foreign Minister, Sherali Safarov, Deputy Finance Minster, senior representatives from Tajik Aluminum Plant (TadAZ) and “Tajiktextilmash”, as well as a group of Tajik entrepreneurs.

According to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics, trade turnover of


Tajikistan

has amounted to only US$3 million in January-March this year, which is 32.4 percent fewer compared to the first quarter of 2005.  Over the first quarter of 2006, Tajikistan’s exports to Germany has amounted to US$146,000 and imports coming from Germany over the same three-month period have amounted to US$2.8572 million.
