, May 11, Asia-Plus – Over the first four months of this year, a number of venereal diseases has reduced two times compared to the same period of 2005, according to information from the

for Prevention of Venereal Diseases.

“If last year up to 20-30 patients were monthly registered with our center, this year their number has reduced to only 5-6 people,” said the source, “At present anonymous office is functioning at the Center and those interested may undergo medical examination for venereal diseases in this office.” 

“On average, up to 1,500 people monthly take medical advice in the office,” the source said, noting that at present labor migrants and members of their families are also high-risk groups.  

“We are currently cooperating with migration services and companies dealing with employment of Tajik citizens outside the country in order to raise venereal diseases awareness among labor migrants,” the source noted.  He added that they also carried out explanatory work among students of higher educational institutions and senior pupils of schools.
