DUSAHNBE, May 24, Asia-Plus — At present schools in Tajikistan are experiencing an acute shortage of textbooks, Ms. Guljamol Nabiyeva, an official with the Ministry of Education, announced in a ceremony of presentation of the survey entitled “Analysis of the Problems with Teaching the Tajik Language in Non-Tajik Schools in Tajikistan” in Dushanbe on May 24. 

According to her, at present Tajik-language schools in Tajikistan need 145 designations of textbooks and schools with Russian, Uzbek, Turkmen, and Kyrgyz languages of teaching need 153 designations of textbooks.   

She said that 86 designations of textbooks for Tajik-language had to date been worked out and submitted for printing.  “Besides, six designations of textbooks have been worked out for the Kyrgyz-language schools,” she said, noting that a methodical council for working out and translating textbooks into the Kyrgyz language was set in the Jirgatol district (eastern Tajikistan) last year.  “This year, we plan to set up the same methodical council for the Turkmen-language schools in the Jilikul district (Khatlon province),” Mr. Nabiyeva said. 

She also noted that they had worked new textbooks for teaching the Tajik language in the Russian-language schools.
