Tajikistan


’s trade unions organizations. 

During the talks they discussed issues related to observance of the country’s legislation and protection of rights of working people.  

Following the meeting with the president, Murodali Solehov, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Trade Unions Federation, told journalists that the meeting was in connection with the Federation’s 18

th

congress that will be held tomorrow and the 80

th

anniversary of


Tajikistan


’s Trade Unions that will be marked this year.  

According to him, their meeting focused on the issue of raising legislation awareness among the workers, payment for labor, especially in the agrarian sector and debts on paying wages.  Solehov stressed that in the agrarian sector the debt on paying wages has amounted to 16 million Somonis (equivalent to some US$5 million).  

He noted that the trade unions organizations had to pay more attention to the issues of observance of law on accepting for job and dismissing people, payment of wages in the private sector.  

According to him, the Federation is currently concerned that many international organizations and transnational companies active in

and enterprises operating in the private sector do not have primary trade unions organizations.  

All these issue will be discussed at the Tajik Trade Unions Congress that will be held in


Dushanbe


on may 25.  Representatives from the International Labor Organization (ILO) trade unions confederations, and trade union organizations of


Russia


,


Uzbekistan


,


Kazakhstan


and other countries are supposed to attend the Tajik Trade Unions Congress as well. 

According to Mr. Solehov, some 1 million people in


Tajikistan


are members of trade unions organizations.
