’s Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) met with representatives from the command of Russian Motor Rifle Regiment 149 stationed in Kulob. 

The meeting held in the OSCE field office in Kulob focused on settlement of problems connected with behaviors of Russian servicemen, which sometimes go against local traditions, norms and mentality.  

Mr. Bojidar Dimitrov, the head of the OSCE field office in Kulob, has told Asia-Plus that the meeting was held in atmosphere of mutual understanding.  Representatives from the Russian regiment noted that the regiment’s command was ready to take appropriate measures to resolve such problems.  “Special lessons will be carried out for servicemen on a rule of behaviors of servicemen in the city with taking into account domestic traditions and norms,” representative from the regiment’s command said.  

For their part, representatives from the IRPT expressed readiness to help the regiment’s command fight pushing of drugs to the servicemen.  

The sides came to an agreement on close cooperation in addressing possible conflict situations between local residents and the servicemen.
