KHOROG, August 21, Asia-Plus — The Division of Continuing Education and Training functioning at the campus of the University of Central Asia (UCA) in Khorog has launched new program.  

Mr. Dilovar Buttabekov, the head The Division of Continuing Education and Training, has told Asia-Plus the launched program is based on training courses from three months to a year.  “We, in particular, will conduct training courses on basics of entrepreneurship, information technologies, planning of management of society and social sphere, accounting, languages, etc,” Mr. Buttabekov said, noting the training programs were drafted in compliance with international standards and recognized by international experts on education. 

The courses are conducted both in Tajik and Russian languages.  The training is paid and comes to US$100-US$200, and participants in the training have an opportunity to receive grants, scholarships and loans on the basis of competition, according to Dilovar Buttabekov.    

“Certificate given by the Division meets requirements and standards and is recognized by advanced countries,” Mr. Buttabekov said.   

UCA was formed by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and the Aga Khan, to foster economic and social development throughout the mountain zones of Central Asia.  It is the world’s first internationally charred institution of higher education.  UCA is constructing campuses at Khorog, Tajikistan, Tekeli, Kazakhstan, and Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.  Facilities will include classrooms, dormitories for residential undergraduate program and the various graduate institutes.                  

The Division of Continuing Education and Training is already functioning at all three locations.  Mid-career training is being offered to professionals in many fields.  Other courses are designed to improve agricultural output and similar the creation of new jobs.  Like the University as a whole, the division serves the entire mountain region of each country.  To the end, UCA will employ state-of-the-art communications and distant learning technologies in all its programs.
