DUSHANBE, August 22, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s “Ismoili Somoni – 21st Century” holding has privatized joint-stock company (JSC) “Rogungesstroy” for 985,000 Somonis (equivalent to US$290,000).  

According to information from the “Ismoili Somoni – 21st Century” holding, “Rogungesstroy” had previously been engaged in the construction of some facilities of the being constructed Roghun hydropower plant in Tajikistan but later it stopped functioning following discontinuance of the construction of the Roghun power plant.  “We plan to resume activity of the joint-stock company soon,” the source said. 

In the meantime, according to information from the State Committee for Management of State-owned Property, a tender for sale of state-owned shares in the JSC “Rogungesstroy” was held in the first half-year of 2006.  “Besides “Ismoili Somonis – 21st Century”, other companies also took part in the tender,” the source the Committee said.  The source refrained from naming companies that participated in that tender.   

ABOUT: The “Ismoili Somoni – 21st Century” holding was founded in 2002.  This holding groups 15 large production, finance and economic companies, including a number of cotton-growing and farm-produce-processing units.  One of priorities of the holding activity is funding work on growing cotton in the Khatlon province.
