DUSAHNBE, September 18, Asia-Plus – Besides the Party of Economic Reforms, the Agrarian Party (APT) and both wings of the Socialist Party (SPT) have also named their candidates for the president.

Delegates at the APT congress held in Dushanbe Saturday unanimously elected the party leader Amirqul Qaraqulov as the candidate for the president.

Mirhusein Narziyev-run wing of the SPT yesterday held the congress and named Mirhusein Narziyev as the SPT candidate for the president.  According to Narziyev, the congress annulled all documents signed by Abduhalim Ghafforov.  “We intend to submit our materials to the Ministry of Justice, the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) and the Supreme Court,” Mirhusein Narziyev noted.

In the meantime, Abduhalim Ghafforov-run wing of the SPT held its congress Saturday and elected Abduhalim Ghafforov as the party candidate for the presidency.  We will recall that the Ministry of Justice officially registered Ghafforov-run wing as the Socialist Party of Tajikistan.

As it had been reported earlier, the second congress of the party held in Dushanbe yesterday nominated party leader Olimjon Boboyev as candidate to run in the presidential election that will take place on November 6.
