, September 18, Asia-Plus — Incumbent President Emomali Rahmonov has not decided yet whether he will nominate his candidacy to run in the upcoming presidential election or not.

  







On Saturday, September 16, speaking to journalists after an official commencement of the construction of the “South-North” electric Emomali Rahmonov said that he has not yet made it clear whether he will seek a third term or not.

 

According to him, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) will hold a congress on September 23 to determine its election program and name its candidate to run in the presidential election.





Asked about alternative candidates, Rahmonov said, “Now is not the early Nineties, and there are many young and talented young people in the country.”





Answering the question about his hobbies, Rahmonov said he likes swimming, playing volley, tennis and billiard.

 

“I do not like seating and being bored,” said Rahmonov, “I always try to find time for reading and writing, and being with my children and grandchildren.”
