DUSHANBE, October 6, Asia-Plus – 50 medical workers, 20 doctors and 30 nurses, have completed a six-month training course on family medicine at the Sughd clinical medicine training center in Khujand.

This training course is part of the Community and Basis Health Project for Tajikistan sponsored by the World Bank.  

According to press service of the Ministry of Health, these 50 medical workers will work in Asht and Spitamen districts of the Sughd province.  

A similar training course for a group of doctors and nurses from Shuroobod, Sarband, Qubodiyon and Norak district was launched at the Khatlon training center today. 

In all, 176 doctors and 496 nurses across the republic are supposed to take refresher course on family medicine under the Community and Basic Health Project within four years.   

 This project aims to increase access to, utilization of, and patient satisfaction with health services in project-supported areas, and to build capacity and efficiency at national, regional and district levels in administering a basic package of health benefits and introducing financing reforms in primary health care.
