DUSHANBE, October 31, Asia-Plus — The CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly will also deploy its observers in Tajikistan ahead of the November 6 president election, according to Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER). 

Muhibullo Dodojonov, spokesman for the CCER, told Asia-Plus that observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, including parliamentarians from various CIS countries, will be deployed in the country as part of the CIS election observation mission. 

According to him, a group of Russian MPs headed by the Russian State Duma vice-speaker Vladimir Pekhtin will arrive in Dushanbe on November 5.  

Russian MPs will meet with the CCER head Mirzoali Boltuyev and will monitor the voting process at one polling stations in Dushanbe.  

According to the central electoral commission, 575 international observers have to date been accredited in Tajikistan.  In all, 700 international and 18,000 local observers are expected to monitor the presidential election in Tajikistan.
