DUSHANBE, November 23, Asia-Plus – Acting Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev is attending a meeting of the council of the CIS defense ministers that opened in Brest, Belarus, today morning, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

A source at a MoD said that the meeting is considering a broad range of issues related to military and military-technical cooperation within the CIS area.  

One of the major topics of the meeting is a concept of social assistance and rehabilitation for servicemen and members of their families.  The meeting is also discussing a model concept of interaction between bodies for military management of the armed forces of member nations of the organization and religious associations, as well as common requirements for intercommunication officers’ training schools and other issues.  

Khairulloyev is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with his CIS counterparts in Brest, including Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoly Gritsenko.  Tajik defense minister and his Ukrainian counterpart will discuss a plan of cooperation in 2007.
