DUSHANBE, November 28, Asia-Plus – A roundtable meeting to discuss a strategy of development of modern system of social system was held in Dushanbe on November 27.

This strategy is part of the “Ministry of Labor and Social Security: Support for Institutional, Legal and Administrative Reforms” project funded by the European Union.  

Nematullo Fattoyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MoLSS), said the meeting had discussed issues related to a system of offering social services at the regional level.  “The strategy is a result of activity of inter-agency working group, comprising representatives from the ministries of labor, health and education,” Fattoyev said, noting that the meeting summed up the results of a two-year work of the project, which is nearing completion.  

The strategy contains review of institutional, functional and legal foundations of the activity of institutions offering social services to centers for elderly people, orphanages and centers for people with intellectual disabilities.  It also sets ways of creation of alternative system of social service.  

This project has been funded by the European Union as part TACIS program, and a total project cost is 811,000 euros.
