DUSHANBE, December 27, Asia-Plus – The third volume of the book entitled “The Republic of Tajikistan: History of Independence” has been brought out in Tajikistan.

A ceremony of presentation of the book was held at the UN Tajikistan Office of Peace-Building (UNTOP) in Dushanbe on December 27.

The UNTOP Political Officer, Waldemar Rokoszewski, noted the book is unique because it reflects contemporary history of Tajikistan and this volume contains materials about the beginning of activity of the UN mission in the country.

One of authors of the book, the Tajik MFA information department head Igor Sattorov noted that it is planned to publish seven volumes of “The Republic of Tajikistan: History of Independence.”

The third volume is dedicated to the most important socio-political events that took place in Tajikistan in 1993 and it contains documents of that period, reflecting attitude of various political forces to these or those events.

The book having a circulation of a 1,000 has been published under support of Frederick Ebert Foundation, UNTOP and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Tajikistan.
