DUSHANBE, February 20, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s State Air Company TajikAir has downgraded once-weekly service from Dushanbe via Istanbul to Munich to once-monthly, Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for Tajik national air carrier, said.

Since February 15, Tajik national air carrier has operated flight Dushanbe-Istanbul-Munich only once a month, first Saturday of month, according to her.

“This move has resulted from economic inefficiency of the flight,” the spokeswoman said, adding that those who purchased tickets on this flight in advance are offered assistance in flying to Munich by flights of other air companies through booking tickets at the expense of TajikAir.

The airfares have remained the same: for business class seats the one-way fare is $730 and the roundtrip fare is $1,065 and for economic class seats the one-way fare is $530 and the roundtrip fare is $830.

Before February 15, the once-weekly service had run from Dushanbe via Istanbul to Munich on Tuesdays.

We will recall that the direct flight from Dushanbe to Munich was canceled in May 2006 because of its economic inefficiency and united with the Dushanbe-Istanbul flight.
