KHUJAND, February 21, Asia-Plus  — Sughd province is running late with preparing cottonseeds for the sowing campaign. 

The Sughd governor Abduqohir Nazirov noted that the region had reached only 86.2 percent of its target on preparation of cottonseeds for the sowing campaign so far.  

The governor added that preparation of agricultural machines for the sowing campaign also evokes concern.  “So far, only 995 of 1,462 agricultural machines have been prepared for the campaign,” Nazirov said.   

“In the territorial cross section the proportions of tractors prepared for the sowing campaign are: Ayni – 41.5 percent; Ghonchi – 52.2 percent; Shahriston – 54.1 percent; Asht – 56.9 percent; Spitamen – 59.1 percent, and Panjakent – 55.6 percent,” said the governor, “And only 73.5 percent of sowing-machines have been prepared for the campaign so far.”
