DUSHANBE, February 22, Asia-Plus – Officers from the Drug Control Agency’s (DCA) directorate for Gorno Badakhshan yesterday arrested Afghan national Abdulay valadi Mamadkarim in Khorog for drug pushing.  

According to head office of the counternarcotics agency in Dushanbe, a 46-year-old Abdulay valadi Mamadkarim was temporarily living in Khorog and when searching apartment, where he lived, officers from the GBAO counternarcotics directorate found one kilogram of heroin.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him and an investigation is under way.  

In 2006, officers from the Tajik counternarcotics agency intercepted 1,400 kilograms of drugs, including more than 506 kilograms of heroin.  Besides, the DCA officers confiscated 15 firearms, three explosives and 928 bullets of different caliber last year.
