DUSHANBE, March 6, Asia-Plus – On Monday March 5, the Dushanbe branch of Tajikistan’s National Red Crescent Society (NRCS) organized a festive event for elderly and disabled people who do not have relatives to support.

Madina Sayfiddinova, information officer with the Dushanbe branch of NRCS, said that the event had been held at the territorial center for social aid that makes care of these elderly and disabled people.  According to her, they had provided food assistance to more than 100 elderly people, including 50 women.       

 Sayfiddinova added that they had also discussed a plan of actions of medical-social unit functioning at the center.  

 Soleh Sharipov, coordinator of the Service of Medical, Social and Psychological Aid to Elderly People project, said that the medical-social unit is dedicated to provide medical services to elderly and disabled people through a joint polyclinic of Tajik and Iranian NRCSs. 

“We plan to receive applications from elderly people once a week for seeking their relatives under the Search Service program run by Tajik NRCS,” Sharipov said.
