DUSHANBE, March 15, Asia-Plus – Russian military base in Tajikistan has constructed three multi-story residential buildings for its servicemen in Dushanbe and the Khatlon province. 

Pavel Konev, an aide to the commander of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, said that an official opening of a 60-apartment residential building in Dushanbe, which is the first of a series of residential buildings for Russian servicemen, was held on Tuesday, March 13.  Army General Vladimir Boldyrev, Commander of Russia’s Volga-Ural Military District, attended the ceremony.  

Another two residential buildings for servicemen of the Russian military base in Tajikistan were inaugurated in Kulob and Qurghon Teppa on Wednesday, March 14, Konev said.  

In all, seven residential buildings for Russian servicemen are scheduled to have been constructed in Tajikistan: three in Dushanbe, two in Kulob and two in Qurghon Teppa.  “Besides, new military hospital in Dushanbe and kindergarten in Qurghon Teppa are expected to have been finished this year as well,” Konev said, adding that construction of school has started in Kulob.   

“Social infrastructure of the base should be finished next year,” said the Russian base official, “More than one billion rubles have been provided from the Russian national budget for construction of residential buildings and other social facilities for the base in Tajikistan.”

The officer adds that more than 400 Tajik nationals have been involved in the construction of the residential buildings and social facilities of the military base.  “They have received on average not less than $500 for their work,” Konev noted.
