DUSHANBE, April 2, Asia-Plus — Customs officers at the Dushanbe airport have stopped two attempts by drug couriers to transport heroin to Russia.

According to Tajikistan’s Customs Service, an inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Krasnoyarsk flight found 1.090 kilograms of heroin hidden in a suitcase belonging to a 22-year-old resident of the Ishkashim district (Gorno Badakhshan) Zohirbek Kasirov.  

Abdurasoul Sharipov, a spokesman for the customs service, added that customs officers also stopped an attempt by Russian citizen Sergey Timofeyev to internally smuggle narcotics into the Russian city of Samara.

“Timofeyev attempted to conceal 0.7452 gram of heroin in his stomach.” The spokesman said.   tomach.
