DUSHANBE, April 9, Asia-Plus — On Friday April 6, Ahmad Ajallouiyan, Charge D’Affaires, Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe, held a meeting with representatives from a number of the Dushanbe state-run and independent media.  

Noting an importance of getting information from the first hand, Ajallouiyan noted that some local media reproduce materials about Iran and its nuclear program or about recent detention of British sailors and marines in Iranian waters from western sources, “which are not always correct.”  He recommended Tajik journalists to also use opportunities of their Iranian colleagues working in Dushanbe.

For their part, Tajik journalists pointed to the necessity of establishment and further expansion of contacts of media with sources.  It was decided to hold such meetings in future as well.  

Ali Ashraf Shabistari, who was the fist Ambassador of Iran to Tajikistan, also attended this meeting.  He arrived in Dushanbe to discuss issues related to preparations for the 10th anniversary of signing of the General Agreement on Peace and National Accord that will be marked on June 27.  

Speaking to journalists, Shabistari underlined the importance of cooperation and direct contacts between journalists and diplomats.
