DUSHANBE, April 11, Asia-Plus — Over the first ten days of the spring conscription campaign, the spring conscription campaign has reached 35 percent of the target, which is considered a good result, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The source at a MoD said that the GBAO currently tops the country’s regions, having reached 55 percent of the spring conscription target.  “In Gorno Badakhshan, the Murgab district has already fulfilled the conscription target and Ishkashim and Shugnan have to date reached 70 percent of the target each,” the source said.  

The MoD source noted that in the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached are: Gorno Badakhshan – 55 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 37 percent; Sughd – 34 percent; Khatlon – 32 percent and Dushanbe – 22 percent.

The spring conscription campaign is carried out from April through May.  The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
