DUSHANBE, April 20, Asia-Plus — Two attempts of drug trafficking were stopped by Tajik police yesterday.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the second-year student at Kulob State University was detained yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. 

The source at a MoI said that police officers had stopped his car on the highway from Kulob to Vose near the village of Sariosiyob.  When searching the car police officers found 4.4 kilograms of raw opium.  “According to the preliminary investigation, the confiscated opium belongs to unemployed resident of Kulob S.M.,” the source said.  

Another attempt of drug trafficking was reported in Dushanbe.  Police found two packages containing two kilograms of heroin hidden in a car VAZ-2106 belonging to capital resident I.D., according to the source 

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained persons and an investigation is under way.
