DUSHANBE, April 30, Asia-Plus – A Moscow-headquartered international money transfers network has concluded cooperation agreements with two Tajikistan’s banks – Bonki Rushdi Tojikiston (Tajikistan Development bank or TDB) and TojikSodirotBonk (TSB), according to the Unistream head office in Moscow. 

The Unistream director general Suren Ayriyan noted that under the inked documents, the system’s services will be made available to all branches of the mentioned banks. 

“We attaches significance to development of Tajik corridor because Tajikistan is of significant importance for us in terms of development of new directions in the Asian region,” Ayriyan said, noting that Tajikistan as immigration donor plays an important role in increasing migration processes within the CIS area.  

According to him, an annual rate of development of the CIS money transfer market has averaged 75 percent.  

More than 300 service points in Tajikistan currently operate the Unistream money transfer system.  To date, Unistream has had signed agreements with 10 financial institutions in Tajikistan, including TDB, TSB, AmonatBonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank), AgorInvestBonk, TajPromBank, Bank Eskhata.  

In 2006, $131 million were remitted to banks in Tajikistan through this system.  Over the first three months of 2007, $44 million have been remitted to Tajik banks through the Unistream money transfer system, which is four times more than in January-March 2006.
