DUSHANBE, June 16, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon, who has been on his working visit to the Sughd province since Thursday afternoon, yesterday familiarized himself with activities of industrials and farming units in Isfara as well as met with local war and labor veterans.

According to presidential press service, the president underlined the importance of production of building materials, tinned goods and improvement of their competitiveness.  

Rahmon also highly appraised results yielded by local beekeepers and vegetable-growers.  He recommended other districts of acquire experience of Isfarans, who have brought tomatoes yields to 70 tons per one hectare, presidential press service said.   

The president also highly appraised Isfara lyceum # 6 and the local resort Zumrad.  

During his stay in Mastchoh, Emomali Rahmon yesterday visited local farming units that work without investors and yield cotton at the rate of more than 3 tons/ha. 

The president also met with the public of the district.  During the meeting, local residents noted that at present the main unsolved problems are shortage of lands for housing, high level of subsoil waters, as well as shortage of preferential loans for farmers.  For his part, the president noted that specialists will study the local education sector in the near future and appropriate measures will be taken to tackle the existing problems.  

Rahmon’s visit to Sughd will end today with a meeting with local authorities in Khujand to sum up Sughd’s socioeconomic results in January-May and determine tasks for future, according to presidential press service.
