DUSHANBE, July 3, Asia-Plus — Another 45 enterprises have been included on the list of large taxpayers in Tajikistan, bringing a total number of the country’s large taxpayers from 158 to 203, Asia-Plus has learned at the Inspectorate for Large Taxpayers.

The source at the inspectorate said that among enterprises and organizations included on the list of large taxpayers are the Dushanbe-based plant for producing fittings, state unitary enterprise Dushnabekontraktprom, limited liability company Baron Oil (oil products supply), construction industrial complex, as well as technological center of the northern city of Istaravshan (production of alcohol drinks), open joint-stock company Ordi Nov (flour-grinding plant in Sughd’s Nov district), the cotton-ginning factory Ismoili Somoni in the Vakhsh district (Khatlon) and the futures company Safari Cotton Invest.

“The inspectorate provides the large taxpayers with high-quality service, saving them from excessive inspections,” the source said, “Specialists from the inspectorate conduct surveys to ensure that enterprise will avoid possible loss of its incomes.”

According to him, enterprises selected for being included on the list of Tajikistan’s large taxpayers should meet all requirements.  “When selecting the enterprise for including on the list of large taxpayers, the inspectorate takes into account amounts of its charged and paid taxes, the enterprise’s assets, the volume of production and realization of goods,” the source said, adding that under recommendations of International Finance Corporation (IFC), some 55%-60% of tax receipts should be provided by large taxpayers.   “To reach this goal it is necessary to select and include new enterprises on the list of Tajik large enterprises,” the source said.

We will recall that Tajikistan’s large taxpayers include the Tajik Aluminum Plant, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, joint ventures such as Zarafshon, Kabool-Tajik Textiles and Javoni, as well as all large commercial banks and the futures companies HIMA, Olimi Karimzod and Ismoili Somoni-21st Century.

According to the source, the large taxpayers account for 60 percent of a total amount of taxes annually transferred to the country’s budget.
