DUSHANBE, July 4, Asia-Plus — Dushanbe will host an international puppet-theater festival in September this year. 

An international festival of puppet theater entitled “Chodari Khayol” (Sheet of Imagination) is scheduled to open in Dushanbe on September 25.     

Izatullo Safarov, chief producer of Dushanbe’s Puppet Theatre told Asia-Plus that puppet theaters from the CIS states, China, India, Iran, France, Japan and Pakistan will take part in an eight-day festival that will run through October 2. 

“The festival will present epic gatherings of masks, marionettes, shadows, and rod puppets,” Izatullo Safarov said, noting that along with professional theaters amateurs will also take part in the Dushanbe puppet-theater festival.  

According to him, the main purpose of the festival is to promote development of the art of puppetry.
