DUSHANBE, July 13, Asia-Plus — This year, 122 Tajik school leavers have been accepted to higher educational institutions in Russia by quota allotted for Tajikistan, Deputy education Minister, Irina Karimova, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 12.

According to her, those 122 students have been competitively selected from among 327 applicants.   She added that the test results had been processed by computer.

On the issue of Tajik students studying abroad, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told journalists that Tajikistan had also reached an agreement with Iran’s authorities on sending Tajik students to study at higher education institutions in Iran. 

According to him, Iran’s Education Minister Mahmoud Farshidi will arrive in Dushanbe on July 19 for a three-day working visit and Tajikistan’s education ministry will bring the issue of allotting  quota of 100 students for Tajikistan for this academic year to Iranian minister’s attention.  “Tajikistan and Iran will sign a memorandum of Understanding (MoI) on cooperation in the field of education,” the minister said.
