DUSHANBE, July 30, Asia-Plus — A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Japan on improvement of the highway Dousti-Panji Poyon in the Khatlon province was signed in Dushanbe on July 26, Tajik MFA said.

According to information posted on the Tajik MFA website, the agreement was inked Hamrokhon Zarifi, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, and Hiroshi Takahashi, Charge D’Affaires, Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe.  

In the course of the talks, the two exchanged views on a broad range of issues concerning prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan.  They also discussed international and regional issues being of mutual interest.  

Zarifi noted that Japan’s Government had made a considerable contribution to development of Tajikistan’s economy, especially in the field of agriculture.  

During the meeting, it was also noted that Japan intends to open training centers to instruct Tajik farmers in modern methods of growing high-quality farm produce.   

Tajik minister appreciated Japanese Government’s support for opening of Tajik Embassy in Tokyo.
