DUSHANBE, August 15, Asia-Plus — An international two-day conference formally entitled “”Contribution of Uzbekistan to Development of Islamic Civilization” is concluding in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent today.  

According to the Uzbek Embassy in Dushanbe, the conference is as part of events being held on occasion of announcement by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) of Tashkent as the capital city of Islamic culture in 2007.  

The source at the Uzbek Embassy in Dushanbe said that the conference has brought together more than 100 scientists, religious leaders from 30 countries, as well as representatives from large international organizations.  

Chairman of the Council of Cleric (Shuroi Ulamo) Hoji Amonullo Nematzoda and his deputy Hoji Husain Mousozoda have represented Tajikistan at this conference.  

Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Secretary General Akmaleddin Ihsanoglu, the Arab States League Secretary General Amrou Mousa, and the UNSECO General Conference Chairman Mousa Jaffar have addressed the conference, which has discussed issues related to formation and development of the Islamic civilization in the territory of Uzbekistan, role of Central Asian thinkers in development of the Islamic doctrine, development of Muslim architecture and arts, inter-civilization and inter-religious dialogue as foundation of tolerance, etc.
