DUSHANBE, August 15, Asia-Plus — The jury has summed up the results of the first round of the recitation competition formally entitled “Jashni Khurshed” (Sun Festival).

Gulmahmad Davlatov, a spokesman for the Ministry of Culture (MoC), said that 22 reciters of verses from all regions of the country had got the right to participate in the final round that will be held at the Lohouti Theatre in Dushanbe from August 29-30.

“The competition winners will receive prizes in money,” said the spokesman, “Persons taking the first three places will receive 800, 500 and 300 somonis respectively.”

According to him, the goal of the competition is to promote development of cultural and spiritual life of the country and reveal new persons of talent in field of culture.   The contest is an important event, providing incentive to artistes to develop their skills, Davlatov said.

We will recall that the republican recitation competition “Jashni Khurshed” was announced by a MoC in the beginning of this year on occasion of celebrations to mark the 1150th anniversary of founder of Tajik-Persian classical literature Abuabdullo Rudaki and the 800th anniversary of the Tajik-Persian poet, jurist and theologian Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi.
