DUSHANBE, August 27, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Tajik counternarcotics agency have stopped an attempt by three residents of the Vahdat district to internally smuggle narcotics into the Russian city of Chelyabinsk
The source at the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) told Asia-Plus that an inspection of passengers on the flight Dushanbe-Chelyabinsk today stopped an attempt of smuggling more than one kilogram of heroin into Chelyabinsk.
The resident of the Vahdat and two his brothers were arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. “They were trying to internally smuggle more than one kilogram of heroin into Russia”, said the source, “Totaling 102 containers containing more than one kilogram of heroin were extracted from their stomachs.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug couriers and an investigation is under way.
