DUSHANBE, September 12, Asia-Plus – RIA Novosti – Tajikistan and Russia are now drawing up a new agreement on completing the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) and Russia’s joint-stock company (JSC) Unified Energy System (RAO YeES) is expected to act as contractor of implementing the Roghun hydroelectricity project, Russian news agency RIA Novosti cited Vadim Gustov, the head of Federation Council’s Committee for CIS Affairs, Wednesday.

We will recall that Tajikistan on August 29 formally revoked a contract with Russia’s aluminum company Rusal for the construction of the Roghun HPS.  The cancellation also includes the annulment of the October 2004 agreement on long-term cooperation with Rusal.
