DUSHANBE, September 17, Asia-Plus – Afghanistan.ru – Iranian authorities have announced creation of regional TV channel for Persian-speaking people, Afganistan.ru cited Iran’s IRNA as saying on September 15.  

According to IRNA, an agreement with Dushanbe and Kabul on this subject has been reached.

Afghanistan.ru says Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared for creation of such TV channel at a tripartite meeting of heads of Tajikistan and Afghanistan in Dushanbe early this year.  

The central office of the TV channel will be located in Tehran, Iran.    

We will recall that the tripartite meeting of Emomali Rahmon, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hamid Karzai met in Dushanbe on July 25, 2006.  Ahmadinejad proposed to launch a joint Persian-language television station, which would broadcast on the territories of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.  This joint television will be dedicated to facilitate dissemination of culture of the Persian-speaking countries, according to Ahmadinejad.
