DUSHANBE, September 19, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Energy and Industries Minister Sherali Gulov attended an international energy conference that was held at the Issyk-Kul resort in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday, Asia-plus has learned at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

The source at a MoEI said that the conference that had brought together senior energy specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan had considered the present of the energy sector.  The conference members pointed to the necessity of carrying out reforms in the energy sector.  The source refrained from giving further details.  

In the meantime, Kyrgyzstan’s news agency 24.kg reports that the CIS chief energy specialists considered issues related to the present state and prospects of further development of energy sectors in their countries. 

The conference also discussed problems of transparency of work of power enterprises and social aspect of reforming the hydropower sector, including tariff policy and strengthening of social protection of citizens, 24.kg said.
