DUSHANBE, October 10, Asia-Plus — The capital mayor’s office has endorsed a Dushanbe improvement program.  

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that the city administration discussed and endrosed a concept of program aimed at improvement and landscape gardening of Dushanbe for 2007-2010 at an October r9 meeting presided over by the capital mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.

The concept was elaborated by specialists from the Dushanbe main directorate for improvement of the city and the Botanical Gardens of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences, the spokesman said.   

The improvement and planting program competition was launched last January.  “Mizrobkhon Dehqonov, the head of the plant-growing department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP), Abdullo Foziljonov, the first deputy head of the Dushanbe main improvement directorate, Abduvali Ghaniyev, the deputy director of the Institute of Physiology of Plants and Genetics, and Akram Ashourov, researcher with the Institute of Botany, have received 15,000 somonis in prize money for the concept,” Saidov said.   

 Heads of Dushanbe’s districts are to elaborate the district improvement and planting programs on the basis of the program for improvement of and landscape gardening of Dushanbe.
