DUSHANBE, October 24, Asia-Plus — Interior Minister Mahmadnazar Solehov told a news conference in Dushanbe on October 23 that there are no any terrorist or extremist underground organizations in Tajikistan.   

According to him, no terrorist or extremist group that could constitute a menace to stability and security of Tajikistan has been revealed in the country over the first nine months of this year.   

Speaking to journalists, the minister noted that a number of facts of revelation of suspect members of extremist groups has been decreasing in the republic.  Thus, over the report period, seven alleged members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) have been detained in Tajikistan, which half the size compared to the same period of last year, the minister said.   

On the crime situation, the minister said that 9,379 crimes have been registered in the country over the same nine-month period.  Compared to January-September 2006 the crime diction rate rose three percent, reaching 85.6 percent, according to him.
