DUSHANBE, October 27, Asia-Plus  — Association of Commercial Banks of Tajikistan, which groups nine largest banks of the country, has been set up, Umed Davlatzod, the first deputy head of OryonBonk, Tajikistan’s largest commercial bank, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe  on October 26.  

According to him, ex-chairman of the TojikSodirotBonk (TSB) board Izatullo Lalbkeov heads the association. 

The issue on establishment Tajik commercial banks’ association was considered at an October 24 meeting of working group presided over by Hasan Sadulloyev, chairman of the OryonBonk board.  

 The association is dedicated to protect interests of the country’s second-level banks and tackle common problems.  “The association will also allow creating conditions for attracting syndicated low-interest loans in Tajikistan’s economy,” Davlatzod said. 

Initiator of the establishment of the commercial banks’ association is Izatullo Lalbekov, who proposed to set up the association in 2001 already.  However, the idea was not supported that time.
