DUSHANBE, November 27, Asia-Plus  — State of agrarian sector was focus of a November 26 government meeting presided over by President Emomali Rahmon. 

Heads of relevant ministries and organizations as well as senior representatives from president’s office took part at the meeting, which considered issues related to a progress of autumn sowing campaign, providing farming units with fuel and seeds and preparation of agricultural machines and equipment, presidential press service said.    

The president expressed concern about the present situation in the country’s agrarian sector and pointed to the necessity of more efficiently using areas requiring irrigation and dry-farming lands.

A special attention was paid to the issue of providing the population and industrial facilities with electricity during the winter months, speeding up construction of the Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydropower plants and rehabilitation of the Yovon heat station.
