DUSHANBE, January 19, Asia-Plus — Unfavorable macroeconomic policy of the government and low level of domestic manufacture led to rise in inflation rate in the country last year, known Tajik economist, Professor Hojimuhammad Umarov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the domestic manufacture is now not able to meet requirements of Tajik consumers in the main consumer products. “Therefore, we are under influence of foreign economic factors,” the expert said.
According to him, it is possible to curb inflation only in the event if 50 percent of consumer goods are produced inside the country. “While for the time of being, it is impossible to regulate prices on the domestic market,” Umarov said.
He named rising world prices of energy resources and grains among main factors that contributed to rise in the inflation rate last year.
