Germany supports the victims of the energy crisis in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, February 19, Asia-Plus  — The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany supports Tajik citizens who are exceptionally hard hit by the extreme winter cold and energy crisis with an emergency assistance of EUR 85,000.00, press release issued by the German Embassy in Dushanbe said.

In cooperation with the German Agro Action(r.a. EUR 55,000.00), Caritas (r.a. EUR 15,000.00), and the Aga Khan Development Network – Focus Humanitarian Assistance (r.a. EUR 10,000) the Embassy will support people in need in Sughd, Khatlon and Dushanbe by providing them with ovens, heating materials and clean drinking water. Furthermore, the Embassy assists in clearing blocked roads in Rasht Valley.

In addition, food packages will be distributed to people who are in deep need, prior-ranking to elder or disabled persons. Within the next days, a shipment of about 1,000 blankets will arrive in Dushanbe from Germany. These blankets are intended to be given to hospitals in Tajikistan.
