DUSHANBE, February 26, Asia-Plus  — As soon as electricity supply situation in Tajikistan improves, Beeline will compensate temporal absence of services to its customers in Tajikistan and they will be given bonuses for further communication, Amrita Kirgizova, public relations officer at limited liability company Tacom, said.

According to her, a decision on paying compensations has been made by the company administration in connection with the fact that due to the energy crisis the cellular operator Beeline, like Tajikistan’s population and enterprises, has been affected by severe electricity shortages.

Because of shortage of electrical power Tacom’s signal-transmitting stations has not been able to work in full capacity, the public relations specialist said.

Cellular operator Tacom, licensed to provide cellular communication services in Tajikistan in the GSM-900/1800, UMTS, CDMA-450, and AMPS standards, now functions under Beeline brand.  Russia’s VympelCom assumes the 80% ownership interest in Tacom.

We will recall that Russia’s cellular operator VympelCom, which works under the Beeline brand, in December 2005 purchased a 60% stake in Tajik cellular operator Tacom for $12 million.  The deal gives to VympelCom the primary right to buy out remaining shares and increase its stake to 100%.
