 DUSHANBE, February 27, Asia-Plus  — The lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the Tajik parliament has approved the draft Ombudsman law. Zarif Alizoda, Representative of the President to the Parliament, said ombudsman would be appointed by the head of state with further confirmation by the parliament.     

A regular sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its speaker, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on February 27.   

Alizoda noted that ombudsman is appointed by the head of state for five years.   In accordance with the law, person not younger than 35 and having legal education shall be appointed to the ombudsman position.  An ombudsman may not serve more than serve two serves in succession.

Speaking at the session, MP Muhiddin Kabiri suggested that the ombudsman office should be elective.    

Parliamentarians also adopted the law on the agency for state finance control and combating corruption as well as endorsed amendments to a number of laws.
