            DUSHANBE, February 27, Asia-Plus  — More than 100 residents of multistory apartment buildings at the Murodullo Sheralizoda Street in Dushanbe’s Sino district held a demonstration yesterday to protest a lack of electricity and water in their apartments.

            Residents of these buildings told Asia-Plus that they have not had electricity for two days some of them have not had water for more than a week.  They demanded that electricity should be supplies to their apartments regularly. 

            Abduvahhob Ghiyosov, an engineer-in-chief with the Dushanbe power systems, met with the protesters, explaining that limitations on power usage have been introduced throughout the city except the central part.  He noted that it was impossible to meet their demands.  “Residential consumers and enterprises in Dushanbe currently have only electricity only 16 hours per day,” said the engineer-in-chief, noting that electricity supplies are cut off from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   

            After repair team of the Dushanbe power systems began repairing the transformer, the demonstrators disbursed.  However, they promised to gather next time near the offices of Dushanbe’s power systems and waterworks if their demands are not met.
