DUSHANBE, March 19, Asia-Plus  — An operation carried out by border guards along the Tajik-Afghan border in Khatlon’s Panj district Wednesday morning led to the discovery of a drug cache.   

A source at the border directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) said that more than 18 kilograms of heroin and some two kilograms of raw opium as well as a carbine had been extracted from the hide.   

Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
