Nearly 50 kg of heroin confiscated from Tajik Railways’ conductor

DUSHANBE, March 19, Asia-Plus  — Conductor at the Tajik Railways has been detained in Dushanbe with nearly 50 kilograms of heroin.  

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), more than 48 kilograms of heroin were found in a car Nexia at the Dushanbe railway station on March 18. 

The preliminary investigation has established that the narcotic drug belongs to the passenger who proved to be conductor at the Tajik Railways.  “He pleaded guilty and said that he was going to transport heroin to one of cities of the Russian Federation,” the source at a MoI said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the conductor and an investigation is under way.      

Over the first two months of this year, Tajik lawn enforcement agencies have seized nearly one ton of drugs, including 190 kilograms of heroin and 415 kilograms of raw opium.
