Business Associations’ coordination council meets in Tajik capital yesterday

DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus  — Activity of the Entrepreneurship Development Support Center and the results of a regional exhibition of Kyrgyzstan’s Agribusiness Association in Osh, Kyrgyzstan were a focus of the 8th meeting of the Coordination Council of the Business-Associations of Tajikistan that was held in Dushanbe yesterday.

The Center was established in 2001 on an initiative of Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev. 

Speaking at the meeting the Center deputy director Mirali Qodirov said that the Center with support of the USAID Business Environment Improvement (BEI) Project, which has been implemented in Tajikistan by PRAGMA Corporation, will launch a series of TV programs for local entrepreneurs on the Simoi Mustaqili Tojikiston (SMT) TV Channel starting from April.  

The meeting also considered and endorsed a plan of business-associations’ work for 2008.  

Nekroy Zabirov, chairman of the Tajik Entrepreneurs and Exporters’ Union, noted that they had reached an agreement on holding a meeting of business-association heads with director of the Center for Strategic Studies Suhrob Sharipov on April 4 and a meeting with the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sharif Said on April 11.  

According to him, they are currently negotiating holding of meetings with Economic Development and Trade Minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda, Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and  speaker of the lower house of the parliament Saydullo Khairulloyev.  

The coordination council also considered and made amendments to draft regulations on the Council of Experts under the State Committee for Investments and management of State-owned Property.
