DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus — Nearly 100 kilograms of drugs have been seized in two separate operations carried out by border guards and security officers in the Khatlon province.
According to the public relations center at the State Committee for National Committee (GKNB), 25.24 kilograms of drugs, including 18.655 kilograms of heroin and 4.90 kilograms of raw opium were seized at the Tajik-Afghan border in the Panj district on March 24. The operation was carried out by security officers in cooperation with borer guards, the source said.
Nearly 70 kilograms of drugs were intercepted in Khatlon’s Hamadoni district today morning. Three packages containing 69.70 kilograms of marijuana were found in a car NIVA. The driver and two his passengers were detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking, the source said
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way.
