KULOB, March 29, Asia-Plus — Counterpart International’s Community and Humanitarian Assistance Programs (CHAP) has delivered totaling 4,200 boxes of daily rations to social and medical facilities in Khatlon’s Kulob region, Asia-Plus has learned from Orif Karimov, manager of Counterpart’s CHAP in Tajikistan.
According to him, humanitarian aid has been provided to all central district hospitals in the region, eight boarding schools for orphaned children in Kulob, Vose, Shuroobod, Temourmalik and Muminobod districts, the orphanage in Farkhor, as well as psychoneurologic dispensary and TB center in the city of Kulob.
“As of March 28, the boxes of daily rations have been delivered to 25 boarding schools and hospitals in the Khatlon province, 34 social and medical facilities in the Sughd province as well as 30 social and medical facilities in Gorno Badakhshan and districts subordinate to the center,” Karimov said, adding that in all, 89 social and medical facilities in Tajikistan will receive daily rations for 2-3 months, depending on the number of beneficiaries.
The total aid includes 259,200 boxes of daily rations worth $1,127,052, the manager said. The aid is delivered in close cooperation with volunteers from the school program of Relief International and local authorities.
