DUSHANBE, April 10, Asia-Plus — To run meat prices in Dushanbe down Tojikmatlubot (consumer’s cooperation) intends to hold regular fairs in the city, the Tojikmatlubot deputy head, Khurshed Sangakov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
The first such fair has functioned in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour district for three days already. “Farmers participating at the fair have sold beef, for example, at the rate of 16 somonis per kilograms, while private entrepreneurs currently sell beef at the rate of 18 somonis per kilogram,” Sangakov said, adding that 12 head of cattle that were delivered to Dushanbe from Sughd on April 9 will also be realized at lower prices.
Besides, a large consignment of yak meat will be delivered to Dushanbe from Gorno Badakhshan within the next few days. “It will be realized at the rate of 11-12 somonis per kilogram,” the Tojikmatlubot official said.
Sangakov noted that Tojikmatlubot had to date organized similar fairs in the cities of Qurghon Teppa, Khujand and Kulob. “Our sellers have daily realized meat ten times more than private entrepreneurs,” he said.
